Healthy Living: Restorative Yoga with Yin

  • Raleigh-Cary JCC 12804 Norwood Road Raleigh, NC, 27613 United States (map)

Please join us for Restorative (meditative) Yoga with Yin (deep stretching) at the JCC.

Sundays:  May 13, May 27, June 10, June 24

Restorative with Yin is a practice of holding postures for longer durations to increase flexibility and mobility followed by restorative yoga poses with meditation.

Yin Yoga is designed to help you sit longer, and more comfortably, in meditation by stretching connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine). A passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia.

Restorative Yoga allows you to completely rest and relax while healing your body from the inside. During this yoga practice, we will hold poses for longer times and be seated or lying down during the class. Poses will include light twists, seated forward folds and gentle supported backbends.

Target audience: All levels, anyone recovering from an injury.

About the instructor: Dana Hariton McQuade has been practicing yoga for over 30 years and is an enthusiast of life-long learning and the practice of yogi principles. Certified at Sonic Yoga in New York City in 2013, she then moved to Raleigh, NC in 2015 to pursue a more peaceful existence. Dana is passionate about sharing the subtle and deeper parts of yoga with her students, and creating a quiet and sacred space to heal your body from the inside and simply…restore.

Dana has taught “kids yoga” at Bright Horizons, Chair Yoga and Gentle Yoga at various retirement communities in the Triangle as well as community classes. She is continuing her certifications in the 300 RYT program at Blue Lotus and also getting certified in Ashtanga Yoga.
